FANTASMAGORIE 2008
A computer 3-D remake of the Emile Cohl's film FANTASMAGORIE, made on the 100th anniversary of making the first cartoon (Paris, 1908).
Traditional and digital cartoon films are mixed; the old stick-man and the new wire-frame-man communicate making adventures together. The film connects two centuries and provides a synthesis of traditional and computer animation. There is a stereoscopic version as well, to be watched with the red-green glasses.
”Fantasmagorie 2008” advanced showing in Paris on 11th April 2008, opened the retrospective of the films by Emile Cohl as a ”surprise film”. For its world premiere, on May 13th, it opened the Monstra international animated film festival in Lisbon, Portugal. The stereoscopic version of the film closed the Monstra festival on May 17th.
